Task Description:
Note: Assessment Task 1 (Research proposal for your report) and Assessment Task 2 (Report) are related. The planning and feedback from Assessment Task 1 will be used to develop Assessment Task 2.
Assessment Task 1 - Research Proposal for your Report
Develop your own research topic related to one aspect of either tourism OR hospitality OR events AND its impact on the sustainability of the host economy OR environment OR society/culture. Your topic can not be related to service management; and it can not be a case study.
You are required to complete the Research Proposal template provided under 'Assessment' on Blackboard. We will discuss how to complete the template in the seminars.
The Research Proposal template requires you to:
1. State the general topic area that you want to investigate.
2. Specify the sector/industry you will approach your topic from (tourism OR hospitality OR events).
3. Specify the aspect of the triple bottom line (TBL) that you want to focus on (economy OR environment OR society/culture).
4. State your research question: To what extent does [insert general topic area from 1. above] impact on the sustainability of the [insert TBL from 3. above]?
5. Set the boundaries of your research by using literature to
inform. your definition of your general topic area (1. from above) and your TBL (3. from above). (Approximately 150 words each)
6. Provide a context for your research. This should justify why your research question should be asked. Use literature to inform. your context. (Approximately 400 words)
7. Include six (6) or more relevant academic peer reviewed references published after 2014.
Note: Your research will ONLY be based on an analysis of available literature in the field - you will NOT be collecting primary data (doing 'empirical' research).
