1. Short Project
This short project is for the Ref/Def Assessment of ECMM112. The students are required to submit an individual report about the topic stated below.
For DEFERRED candidates the marks for this module are calculated from 100% of the percentage mark for this short project.
For REFERRED candidates the marks for this module are calculated from 100% of the percentage mark for this short project, up to the maximum mark that can be achieved which is 50%.

Critical Evaluation of Supply Chain Management Theory in Practice
3. Project Requirements
Select a manufacturing organisation which has a well-structured supply chain to support their business operations and good/service delivery to customers. Examine the organisation’s business practices in light of current supply chain management literature. Analyse how the supply chain is managed and identify areas of the business which demonstrate competitive advantage as well as any areas which may require improvement. You should include some of the themes explored on this module e.g. partnerships, outsourcing operations, third-party logistics, whole-chain planning, portals and virtual organisation, vendor-managed inventory, electronic information integration etc.
The targeted length of this report is around 3000 words (+/- 10%).
4. Marking Criteria
• Demonstrating good knowledge and understanding of SCM theories (20 marks)
• Identification the case organisation and its supply chain (20 marks)
• Critical evaluation of the business practices in light of relevant theories (30 marks)
• Conclusions and discussions - what does the company need to understand better? What knowledge would help the company perform. better? (20 marks)
• Presentation of report (10 marks)
