FIT3175 Usability - Supplementary Brief
Usability Design Project
Project Brief
Mobile applications are used by different types of people to easily complete goals. A well designed application can allow even a novice user to navigate and manage complex information utilising many different features of a modern mobile phone.
Many people want to get fit, but struggle to get started for a variety of reasons, such as lack of time, the cost or difficulty of accessing a gym or lack of support. In today’s world, both novice and experienced fitness enthusiasts are turning to technology to help them stay motivated and manage their exercise routines, whether these be cardio or strength or a mixture of both.
Your group's goal is to design and deliver a prototype of a mobile application that allows users to enter and track their workouts, share results with friends, get fitness advice and join online workout sessions by video.
Some high level requirements will need to be covered by the proposed app, which are:
1. Allow users to enter and track workouts (either manually or by connecting to a smartwatch/wearable fitness device)
2. Allow users to sign up for and get reminders for online/video workout sessions
3. Allow users to add friends and share their workout results
4. Allow users to search for workouts or fitness advice based on their fitness level/goals.
5. <additional requirement>
6. <additional requirement>
Also consider the wide variety of different features, commonly found in mobile apps, that may be useful to provide an engaging user experience:
● Using the device's camera to capture or scan
● Perform. a search on the Internet
● Use a map to show the location of something
● Assign a rating or write a review
● Create and update a user profile
● Share content as a link or image
● Earn and keep track of daily points
● Get recommendations based on usage
● Send messages to other users
Some personas and user stories have been provided on the following pages for you to use in your supplementary Submission 2.
